Aged Care

Scalabrini Village Aged CareThe Grand Priory of Australia is particularly proud of the charitable work of five of our Knights in the area of aged care. The Scalabrini Village aged care facilities were founded by Chev Carl Melvey, the late Chev Rocco Antico and others in 1968. Chev Nerio Panizutti & Chev Natale Zanardo joined Scalabrini in 1968 and 1974 respectively and Chev Pat Pedulla in 1990.

During the period from 1968 to 2006 these five exemplary Knights were instrumental in overseeing the construction and running of 6 villages for the aged in New South Wales, comprising of 650 residents, 400 staff and 350 volunteers.

Many Knights and Dames have been and continue to be volunteers throughout the 6 villages. They continue to uphold the spiritual beliefs of Bishop Scalabrini and the mission of the Order of Saint John to help those in need.
